WFO The Americas meets with Ombudsman of Dominican Republic


Santo Domingo: The Ombudsman, Mrs. Zoila Martínez Guante, held a meeting with the Vice President of the Waste Free Oceans Foundation (WFO), Luc Mellaerts discussing creating inter-institutional alliances to sanitize the rivers Haina, Ozama and Isabella.

WFO's Luc Maellerts said that the foundation plans to develop studies and design plans to clean up the Ozama and Isabela rivers, and at the request of the Ombudsman also the Haina River. Plans are to install an industrial water treatment system and promote the navigability of the river to strenghten tourism. This is a major step stone in a moving closer to a cleaner river environment in the Dominican Republic.
