Seven months ago, in partnership with Eco Eyewear and The Recycler, we installed a waste trap in the Feza River, right in the heart of Dar es Salaam. Since then, it’s been capturing more than just waste. We’ve found everything from discarded shoes to stray apples, and an overwhelming amount of plastic bottles, among other things.
Every item is a reminder that our trash isn’t staying where it belongs. It’s ending up in our rivers, on our shores, and in our oceans.
This waste trap is more than a cleanup tool – it’s a call to action. We must take responsibility for our planet and prevent pollution at the source. We must mind our waste.
